The Power of the Portrait:
Portraits, Self Portraits and Identity
Experiment with different layouts and designs.
Use black and white and colour, text, illustration, double exposure etc.

This is the beginning of your controlled coursework which will be assessed in year 11 and will form 60% of your final grade.
The emphasis this year is on developing your own ideas through research of artists/genres, taking your own photographs in response to your research, experimenting with different techniques and starting to link these together to create a series of final pieces.
In Pairs, choose a piece of coursework to analyse. Can you identify the good practice in these pieces of work? Download the worksheet, screenshot it and place in your sketchbook.

LO: To identify and develop your coursework ideas by choosing a starting point for your new project; People and Places, then mind mapping and researching artists.

Developing your ideas using artists techniques - Student Project example
STEP FIVE: Skills workshops
CHOOSE YOUR FIRST 6-8 ARTISTS TO RESEARCH AND RESPOND TO
-
Choose two images that really inspire you from the pinterest board and mood board, research the artists who created them and create a research page on both artists/campaigns depending on the images you have chosen.
-
Plan your first photoshoot and make a list of all the things you will need, props, costume, make up, location etc.
-
If you are stuck, use the workshops below to help you get started. Choose the ones that link to and develop your ideas.
-
You should aim for one workshop per lesson.
Here are some suggestions for you to start you off.
Attempt one workshop each lesson. This can be from your own artist research or from my workshops below. This should consist of a page of artists research, a photoshoot and a series of edits using the artists techniques.

Explore Environment through collage
Research the work of Joanna Goodman
LO: Using your own images, create either hand manipulated or digital collages that reflect identity and environment.
Respond:

Task 1:
Using the environment around you, do a photoshoot in and around the photography unit of objects, textures, patterns and backgrounds. Combine these with portraits you have taken or new portraits to create a series of collages.

Task 2:
Do a further shoot at home of different patterns textures and objects to develop your ideas further
